Works in Progress October 2007

Works in Progress

I've finished the front and back of the Nashua Handknits Cabled Pullover from their North American Lifestyle Series book called "Relax" (Autumn 2005/Winter 2006). Now I have to block the daylights out of the front, and hope it softens up from its highly erect state (think Viagra). This is the back. I opted not to do the middle, complicated cable for the back. This is interesting enough for me. You can see the front here. After I block the front and back and put them together, I'll probably do the sleeves from the top down, especially if I have to add panels to the sides for fit. Stay tuned....

This is half of the beautiful band for the Rebecca (GGH) Wide Sweater with Round Yoke (Magazine No.34 August - October 2007). It is the 12th design from the top on this page. I'm not using their yarn. I'm using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran.

This is most of the body of the Gwenivere's Choice Tunic from Iris Shreier's Lacy Little Knits. It's the design on the cover, though I chose a different color combination. I'm using the Cashmere 1 single -ply with the Ultramerino 8. I just need to finish the top of the back, then add the arms. The color combination is gorgeous in person, though I'm not sure this photo does it justice.

This sweather is absolutely gorgeous! Too bad it only goes to size 38 as i think I'd need a 42! I can hardly wait to see your finished. The color is fantastic. So rich.

Thanks, Judith! I'm not sure which sweater you're talking about, but if it's the pink one, you could just add more reverse stockinette on the sides and take it up to a 42. That would just require an inch more of stitches on each end on both front and back to make the size 38 a size 42.

If it's the brown and turquoise one you mean, you could do more repeats of the pattern, since it is worked side to side. You can add another 4 inches of width just by continuing for 4 inches more woth of rows than the pattern says. Then you'd pick up the appropriate stitches along the edge to go up and make the bodice.

Hope that helps! Thanks again, Julie
